Job description

The Senior Water Treatment Engineer will lead process design and optimization for drinking water and reuse facilities within Jacobs' Florida Water team. This role focuses on solving complex challenges related to sustainable water supply and community resilience. The engineer will work in a hybrid setup, collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams to deliver integrated solutions. Mentorship of junior engineers and direct client engagement are key aspects of this position.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Civil, Environmental, or Chemical Engineering is required, with an M.S. preferred.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in Florida is required.
  • A minimum of 15 years of experience in municipal water/wastewater process engineering is required.
  • Hands-on experience with membrane treatment and advanced disinfection processes is required.
  • Strong client-facing communication skills and a proven track record of delivering quality design documentation are required.

Responsibilities

  • Lead process evaluation, design, and optimization for drinking water and reuse treatment systems.
  • Plan and oversee pilots, bench testing, and data analysis, translating findings into design documentation.
  • Guide commissioning and startup, troubleshoot operations, and support digital tools to enhance performance.
  • Develop technical specifications and conduct equipment selection with strong QA/QC rigor.
  • Mentor and develop junior engineers while fostering a collaborative team culture.
