Job description
The Traffic Design Engineer will be a key member of the Traffic Engineering group at Jacobs, working in the San Antonio, Austin, or Houston offices. This role focuses on supporting traffic PS&E projects, including signal design, ITS, and pavement marking. The engineer will utilize various traffic design and engineering software to contribute to transportation and traffic engineering projects. Collaboration with team members and effective communication will be essential for success in this position.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a focus in Transportation/Traffic Engineering discipline
- 2 years of experience in transportation/traffic engineering design
- Experience with traffic software including Synchro, Vissim, or HCS
Responsibilities
- Perform civil design for a variety of projects, drawings, and technical work as required by assignments.
- Conduct traffic analysis tasks from data collection to reporting analysis results and writing technical reports.
- Coordinate project assignments with other engineers and technicians.
- Review drawings supplied by contractors, clients, and engineers and recommend necessary changes.
- Research design options and document findings for Project Engineers and/or Project Managers.
- Provide project cost estimating.
- Maintain effective communication with project team members and project leads.
- Assist in the preparation of technical reports.
- Research federal, state, and local government standards and regulations.
