Job description

The Civil Engineering Design Lead will join Jacobs' multidisciplinary Federal Site Development team in Morristown, NJ. This role focuses on providing clients with award-winning planning, engineering, and design services for federally funded projects. The successful candidate will coordinate with engineers, technicians, and clients, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and design standards. The position requires leadership in overseeing project assignments and maintaining quality control throughout the project lifecycle.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) in New Jersey
  • At least 12 years of experience with civil site development projects and permitting
  • Experience delivering for US Government clients is a plus
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Detailed knowledge of civil site and infrastructure design
  • Familiarity with applicable federal codes and standards, including Unified Facilities Criteria (UFCs)
  • United States Citizenship
  • Expertise with AutoCAD Civil 3D design software
  • Experience with Bluebeam software

Responsibilities

  • Act as civil design lead and Engineer of Record for functional teams on projects with varying complexity.
  • Work closely with project managers to respond to client Requests for Proposal (RFPs).
  • Plan and execute work independently while performing non-routine and complex assignments.
  • Interpret business issues and recommend best practices.
  • Lead teams in the preparation of engineering assessment reports and design documents.
  • Serve as a quality control reviewer to ensure civil department deliverables meet client scope requirements.
  • Provide technical guidance, coaching, and mentorship to developing engineers.
  • Continually develop skills by being proactive in advancing workflows and communication techniques.
  • Occasionally travel to project and client sites for observations, meetings, and presentations.
