Job description

The Systems Engineer role at Jacobs focuses on supporting mission planning capability design and development through requirement analysis and user needs assessment. The position involves collaboration with Agile teams, Product Managers, and customer representatives to ensure software functionality meets mission requirements. The engineer will also provide domain knowledge in mission planning and support integration and testing activities. This role is crucial for enhancing operational readiness and ensuring compliance with avionics data standards.

Requirements

  • A BS degree from an accredited school and at least eight years of related experience, or a MS degree and at least seven years of related experience.
  • Knowledge of route planning related data such as aircraft route data, DAFIF, and ARINC-424.
  • Familiarity with various flight management systems and applicable mission data.
  • Analytical skills for requirement decomposition, ICD analysis, and software bug investigation.
  • Good communication skills to convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Solicit, analyze, and decompose requirements and user needs to support mission planning design.
  • Interface with customer representatives to understand complex systems requirements.
  • Translate complex systems requirements to developers and software engineers.
  • Participate in the evaluation and assessment of Mission Planning products.
  • Prepare and present technical briefings and White Papers to customer management.
  • Investigate aeronautical data issues and develop solutions.
  • Support planning and execution of mission database load tests.
