Job description

The Associate Civil Engineer role at Jacobs involves supporting the federal team in a hybrid capacity at the Boston office. Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) in at least one state
  • At least 8 years of experience with civil site development projects and/or civil works infrastructure projects
  • Detailed knowledge of civil site and infrastructure design, including site layout, pavements, grading, utilities, drainage, stormwater management, and erosion & sediment control
  • Expertise with AutoCAD Civil 3D design software
  • United States Citizenship

Responsibilities

  • Act as lead project engineer for specific tasks within large, complex projects
  • Act as Engineer of Record on projects scoped specifically within area of expertise and experience
  • Plan and execute work independently while performing non-routine and complex assignments based on high-level instructions
  • Work closely with multi-disciplinary design teams and project managers
  • Research, interpret, and implement regulatory code requirements and design standards
  • Prepare engineering assessment reports and design documents, including plans, specifications, calculations, and basis of design reports
  • Provide technical guidance, coaching, and mentorship to technicians and less experienced engineers
  • Analyze sketches, notes, and other input material to determine and plan the best approach to develop designs with minimal supervision
  • Occasionally travel to project and client sites for observations, meetings, and presentations
