Job description
The Intermediate Water Resources Scientist/Engineer role at Jacobs involves supporting local and regional environmental water resource projects in Tampa or Sarasota, Florida. The position focuses on planning, data analysis, reporting, and design related to stormwater and watershed management. As part of the Florida team, the engineer will work on various projects addressing flood and climate-related risks. Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental, Agricultural, Biological, or Civil Engineering, or a related field is required.
- A minimum of 5 years of consulting experience related to water resource projects and environmental or civil engineering is required.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in Florida is preferred or the ability to obtain it within one year.
- Experience with Hydrologic & Hydraulic (H&H) Analysis and Modeling and Stormwater System Design is required.
- Knowledge and advanced use of Microsoft Excel, SharePoint, Word, and PowerPoint is required.
- Experience using ArcGIS and ArcHydro tools for H&H modeling applications is required.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD is recommended.
- Strong technical writing skills and communication skills are required.
- Experience in developing and maintaining strong client relationships is required.
Responsibilities
- Support ongoing watershed management planning projects and stormwater design projects.
- Assist senior engineers and designers in planning and design projects associated with watershed planning and drainage improvement.
- Conduct data analysis, reporting, and data management for environmental water resource projects.
- Participate in site testing, site investigation, and field work.
- Review plans and permits related to stormwater projects.
- Develop and review hydraulic and hydrologic models.
- Manage stormwater projects and report on climate change and sea level rise.
