Job description
The Assistant Resident Engineer will provide critical construction management support for heavy transportation infrastructure projects. This role involves daily project administration and coordination to ensure projects remain on track. The engineer will lead the inspection staff and handle various project-related tasks, including correspondence and record maintenance. A strong focus on safety and quality is essential for success in this position.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management
- Licensed Professional Engineer or NICET IV with substantial highway construction experience
- Field inspection experience with substantial professional years of experience
- Supervisory experience with substantial professional years of experience
- Knowledge of NJSDOT construction policies and procedures
- Basic knowledge of CPM scheduling techniques
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- A valid driver’s license
Responsibilities
- Perform daily project administration and coordination for construction projects
- Lead the inspection staff and review daily inspector reports
- Handle project correspondence and maintain accurate records
- Produce estimates and assist with the change order process
- Review contractor payroll reports and EEO documents
