Job description
As a Construction Engineer at Jacobs, you will be part of a collaborative team focused on providing engineering, construction management, and design-build project delivery for various infrastructure projects. This role is based in southern Wisconsin, specifically in Milwaukee or Madison, and involves working on highway, roadway, and bridge projects. You will be responsible for ensuring that construction work meets contract specifications while documenting progress and communicating effectively with team members and clients. Your contributions will help innovate and grow infrastructure that transforms communities.
Requirements
- At least 8 years of experience in roadway/highway, bridge, or general civil construction projects
- Previous experience on WisDOT construction projects
- Ability to drive to/from project locations in southern Wisconsin and northern Illinois
- Working knowledge of construction engineering and document control
- Proficiency with Microsoft applications, including Windows, Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Excellent organizational and written and verbal communication skills
- Local to Milwaukee or Madison, WI - preferably Milwaukee
Responsibilities
- Serve as the Task Lead and/or Inspector on WisDOT projects
- Document contractor progress and quantities completed
- Perform daily inspections to verify that contractor work is completed in accordance with contract documents
- Prepare daily construction reports that identify contractor workforce, equipment, activities, site visitors, and include daily progress photos
- Review contract plans, specifications, submittals, and material information
- Report and document any field conditions that deviate from the contract
- Utilize contract documents to perform general monitoring and documentation of construction activities
