Job description
The Resident Engineer/Construction Manager role at Jacobs involves overseeing the construction supervision of electrical infrastructure and facility projects across Oregon, Washington, and Idaho. This position requires extensive interaction with client stakeholders, contractors, and the Jacobs cross-functional team. The focus is on ensuring projects are implemented safely and accurately while adhering to contract and permitting requirements. Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or equivalent related experience in lieu of a degree
- 12+ years of experience as a Project Manager or Construction Manager in an Engineering, Environmental, or Construction organization
- Proven experience within large construction programs
- Strong working knowledge of pre-construction, contract management, project delivery methods, team building, and client relationships
- Valid Driver’s license and good driving history
- Ability to travel for occasional project site visits
Responsibilities
- Interface extensively with client stakeholders, contractors, and the Jacobs cross-functional team
- Provide oversight of the pre-construction and construction processes to ensure project compliance with contract and permitting requirements
- Lead a team in monitoring the progress of construction projects and advising on steps to achieve project goals
- Conduct field/site inspections and ensure quality assurance throughout the project
- Manage and direct a team of support staff and site inspectors for project supervision
- Report on progress, safety, financial projections, quality control, and changes in contract work
- Review change orders for validity and cost reasonableness
- Develop trusted relationships with the project team, contractor, and client staff
