Job description

The Senior Automation Design Engineer role at Jacobs focuses on driving the architectural and detailed design of industrial automation solutions in regulated manufacturing environments. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent job experience in lieu of degree.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience delivering industrial automation projects in regulated manufacturing environments.
  • Demonstrated experience designing large-scale automation systems.
  • Hands-on experience with multiple automation platforms, including Emerson DeltaV, Siemens automation systems, and Rockwell automation systems.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the end-to-end design of automation systems from conceptual engineering through detailed design.
  • Develop automation architecture standards and define system topologies.
  • Ensure automation designs comply with GAMP 5 principles and support a risk-based validation approach.
  • Incorporate Artificial Intelligence and advanced analytics opportunities into automation designs.
  • Design industrial network architectures, including cybersecurity considerations and IT/OT integration.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to project engineers and other design disciplines.
