Job description

The Senior Traffic & ITS Engineer / Project Manager will lead and expand the Intelligent Transportation Systems and Traffic Engineering practice in the New York and New Jersey region. This role requires a licensed Professional Engineer with a strong technical background and proven project management experience. The candidate will work closely with key regional transportation agencies and manage a growing team of engineers. The focus will be on delivering innovative traffic and ITS solutions while fostering professional development within the team.

Requirements

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in NY or NJ, with dual licensure preferred.
  • Substantial professional experience in traffic engineering and/or intelligent transportation systems (ITS).
  • Demonstrated experience managing projects for NYSDOT, NJDOT, NYCDOT, NYCEDC, and/or PANYNJ.
  • Proven ability to lead technical teams and mentor junior staff.
  • Strong understanding of regional transportation systems, traffic analysis tools, and ITS technologies.
  • Excellent communication, client management, and business development skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage traffic and ITS projects from planning and design through delivery.
  • Serve as a primary client contact for agencies such as NYSDOT, NJDOT, NYCDOT, NYCEDC, and PANYNJ.
  • Develop and execute strategies to expand the firm’s NY/NJ traffic and ITS portfolio.
  • Provide technical oversight and mentorship to a growing team of traffic and ITS engineers.
  • Oversee project budgets, schedules, and resource planning to ensure successful outcomes.
  • Coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams to deliver innovative and sustainable traffic and ITS solutions.
