Job description

The Technology Policy Writer will work within the Engineering Risk & Resilience team at Bloomberg to shape and document technology standards. This role focuses on translating complex regulatory expectations into clear, actionable standards for engineering teams. The writer will collaborate closely with various stakeholders, including engineering leadership and compliance partners, to ensure that technology standards meet regulatory requirements while remaining practical. The position requires strong writing skills and a deep understanding of technology risk management.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience writing technology documentation, policies, or standards in a technology company.
  • Strong understanding of risk management concepts with prior experience in a first- or second-line role.
  • Exceptional written communication skills with the ability to simplify complex technical concepts.
  • Strong analytical judgment and problem-solving skills.
  • A track record of effectively engaging stakeholders at all levels.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Technology, Information Systems, or a related discipline.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and drafting of technology risk and compliance standards.
  • Translate regulatory obligations and internal control requirements into clear, actionable standards.
  • Produce well-written, easy-to-digest standards documents.
  • Ensure strong traceability between controls, policies, standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Map and realign industry standards and regulatory frameworks to internal controls.
  • Act as a trusted partner to engineers, risk professionals, and senior leaders.
  • Contribute to broader Engineering COO initiatives aligned with the team’s mission.
