Job description

The Senior Software Engineer for the Public Cloud Network team at Bloomberg will focus on building and evolving the hybrid cloud networking platform. This role involves collaborating with various teams to ensure seamless integration of Bloomberg's cloud presence with its global private network. The engineer will work on high-impact initiatives related to cloud networking, platform reliability, and security governance. The position requires a strong background in network engineering and cloud infrastructure.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience in software engineering, network engineering, SRE, or production engineering.
  • Strong programming/scripting ability in Python.
  • Hands-on experience operating or designing highly available distributed systems.
  • Practical experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP networking constructs.
  • Proficiency with orchestration, automation frameworks, and infrastructure as code tools like Terraform.

Responsibilities

  • Build automation, orchestration, and tooling to standardize public cloud networking.
  • Operate and improve Bloomberg's production cloud network infrastructure across AWS, Azure, and GCP.
  • Implement robust observability, alerting, incident management, and performance monitoring for cloud networking components.
  • Design scalable, resilient network patterns for hybrid connectivity and service-to-service communication.
  • Partner with on-prem networking and cross-functional engineering groups to align global connectivity strategies.
