Job description

The Senior Substation Engineer - Physical Design role focuses on supporting utility and developer clients in the energy sector by delivering Substation Physical design deliverables. This position is part of Jacobs' Energy & Power Group, which is expanding its Transmission & Distribution operations in North America. The successful candidate will work closely with regional and global teams to tackle the complexities of decarbonization and utility modernization. This role requires strong technical knowledge and client interfacing skills to ensure timely and budget-compliant project delivery.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Advanced Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Power Engineering or related engineering discipline.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) within the United States or ability to obtain additional PE licenses if needed.
  • Minimum 8 years of direct Substation Physical design experience with utility or consulting organization.
  • Advanced knowledge and understanding of High Voltage substation components.
  • Prior experience in development of substation physical designs from conceptual through the development of IFC drawings.

Responsibilities

  • Interface directly with utility and developer clients on the development of Substation Physical design deliverables.
  • Provide engineering overview, expertise, and direction while acting as an independent technical advisor.
  • Mentor team members across North America and globally.
  • Support the sales and proposal preparation process for new contracts.
  • Perform project scoping, prepare task orders, and conduct design reviews of work by others.
