Job description

As a Member of Technical Staff - Machine Learning at Microsoft, you will focus on developing large language models (LLMs) for various applications and products. You will be part of the Superintelligence Team, which aims to create AI systems that enhance human potential while ensuring safety and alignment with human values. The role requires a blend of machine learning expertise and software engineering skills, along with effective communication and teamwork. You will be expected to take initiative in building innovative AI experiences in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years of technical engineering experience with coding in languages including C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
  • Doctorate in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Human-Centered AI or related field AND 2+ years of experience in relevant areas.
  • Master's Degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or related field AND 5+ years of experience in relevant areas.
  • Demonstrated engineering or research experience in creating features or conducting complex research.
  • Experience prompting, evaluating, and working with large language models.
  • Experience writing production-quality Python code.

Responsibilities

  • Own and pursue a research agenda to improve model capability and performance for agentive applications.
  • Collaborate closely with other research and product teams to unlock new model capabilities.
  • Build robust evaluations for tracking modeling improvements.
  • Design, implement, test, and debug code across the research stack.
