Job description

The Senior Transportation Drainage Engineer will join Jacobs' San Antonio office to support the South Transportation team, focusing on highway and bridge projects throughout Texas. This role offers the opportunity to lead technical delivery and contribute to the growth of the local Drainage practice. The engineer will leverage existing client relationships for business development and mentor junior staff. This position is ideal for someone looking to expand their leadership responsibilities in a collaborative environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from a U.S. ABET accredited institution or equivalent
  • Professional Engineer registration in Texas or the ability to obtain within six months if licensed in another state
  • Eight or more years of experience delivering drainage design and hydrologic and hydraulic analyses for mid to large scale transportation projects
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to coordinate drainage design across all project phases with other disciplines

Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively with project engineers and multi-disciplinary teams to deliver enclosed storm drainage analysis and design for urban and rural transportation projects
  • Perform drainage analysis and design in accordance with project requirements and applicable agency criteria, including TxDOT and municipal entities
  • Provide hydraulic analysis for cross drainage structures and integrate results with roadway and bridge designs
  • Design and analyze stormwater quality facilities
  • Support preparation of contract documents including drainage drawings, specifications, estimates, and quantities
  • Prepare project specific drainage and hydraulic reports and technical memorandums
  • Contribute to business development efforts by leveraging existing client relationships and supporting the growth of the local Drainage team
  • Assist with mentoring and technical development of junior engineers as the practice grows
