Job description

The Senior Transportation Drainage Engineer will join the Austin office to support the South Transportation team on highway and bridge projects across Texas. This role is ideal for an experienced drainage engineer who enjoys collaboration in a fast-paced environment and aims to grow into leadership positions. The engineer will focus on the planning, analysis, and design of transportation drainage systems while working closely with various disciplines. Opportunities for task leadership and mentoring junior staff will be available as the engineer progresses in their role.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from a U.S. ABET accredited institution or equivalent
  • Professional Engineer registration in Texas or the ability to obtain within six months if licensed in another state
  • Eight or more years of experience supporting mid to large scale transportation projects with drainage design and hydrologic and hydraulic analyses
  • Ability to communicate effectively and coordinate drainage design across all project phases with multi-disciplinary teams

Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively with project engineers to deliver enclosed storm drainage analysis and design for urban and rural transportation projects
  • Perform drainage analysis and design in accordance with project requirements and agency criteria, including TxDOT and municipal entities
  • Provide hydraulic analysis for cross drainage structures and coordinate designs with roadway and bridge disciplines
  • Design and analyze stormwater quality facilities
  • Support preparation of contract documents including drainage drawings, specifications, quantities, and estimates
  • Prepare project specific drainage and hydraulic reports and technical memorandums
  • Take on progressively greater responsibility as a task lead, with the opportunity to grow into a team leadership role
