Job description

The Senior Software Engineer role in the Identity & Privileged Access Management team at Bloomberg focuses on securing the infrastructure and data of the global financial information network. This collaborative team is responsible for designing and building scalable identity and access control services across various applications and systems. The position involves solving complex problems related to authentication, authorization, and credential management while integrating security automation efforts. The engineer will work with cutting-edge technologies and contribute to modernizing Bloomberg's identity platform.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of hands-on software engineering experience.
  • Strong programming skills in Python, Go, or Java.
  • Deep understanding of authentication and authorization concepts such as OAuth2, SAML, OIDC, RBAC, and ABAC.
  • Experience in building distributed and high-availability solutions targeting 99.9999% uptime.
  • Solid understanding of Linux systems and networking fundamentals.
  • Knowledge of infrastructure-as-code principles such as Terraform and Ansible.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement high-performance, fault-tolerant services that manage identities, roles, policies, and entitlements.
  • Engineer automation to manage credentials, secrets, and privileged accounts across heterogeneous environments.
  • Collaborate with partner teams in Platform Security, Infrastructure Engineering, and Compliance to deliver robust solutions.
  • Integrate open source and vendor PAM technologies with Bloomberg’s internal platforms.
  • Drive adoption of modern security engineering and infrastructure-as-code practices.
  • Lead architectural and design discussions, mentor junior engineers, and champion best practices in secure software development.
