The Responsible AI team at Microsoft is seeking experienced Applied Scientists to develop and implement AI technologies that adhere to ethical standards. This role focuses on fine-tuning large language models and ensuring the safety and security of AI agents. The team collaborates closely with engineering to deliver effective solutions at scale. • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computational Linguistics, or related field AND 2+ years related experience, OR Master's Degree in the same fields AND 1+ year(s) related experience, OR Doctorate in the same fields, OR equivalent experience.
• Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and C#.
• Experience with machine learning frameworks including PyTorch and Triton.

• Conduct supervised fine-tuning of large language models and evaluate their performance.
• Collaborate with the tech lead on designing and implementing safety mitigations for AI agents.
• Work closely with the Responsible AI engineering team to deliver mitigations at scale.
• Refine existing implementations based on operational performance and troubleshoot end-to-end issues.
