The Copilot Tuning team at Microsoft is seeking Senior and Principal Applied Scientists to advance the development of large language models (LLMs) tailored for enterprise solutions. This role involves working with tenant data to create task-specific agents and enhancing the LLM experience in Microsoft 365 Copilot. Candidates will engage in cutting-edge model development, focusing on training, data pipelines, and delivering high-quality models. The team fosters a collaborative environment that encourages innovation and deep thinking.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in a related field and 4+ years of relevant experience, or a Master's Degree and 3+ years, or a Doctorate and 1+ year of experience.
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements.
- 2+ years of experience training or fine-tuning AI/ML models, preferably LLMs.
- 2+ years of experience with Python and/or ML frameworks such as PyTorch.
- 4+ years of experience creating publications in relevant fields.
- 2+ years of experience presenting at conferences or events as an invited speaker.
Responsibilities
- Write and execute training pipelines for large language models post-training.
- Design experiments to demonstrate the effectiveness of LLM-based solutions.
- Implement inference solutions that incorporate post-trained models according to product specifications.
- Document experiments and communicate results across the team.
- Mentor early-career team members.
