The Applied Scientist II role at Microsoft 365 Copilot focuses on leveraging advanced machine learning techniques to enhance productivity tools like Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. The Office AI Platform team is responsible for developing and implementing cutting-edge Copilot experiences, collaborating with various teams across Microsoft. Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 2+ years related experience, OR Master's Degree in the same fields AND 1+ year(s) related experience, OR Doctorate in the same fields, OR equivalent experience.
- 1+ year(s) experience creating publications such as patents or peer-reviewed academic papers.
- Problem solving and data analysis skills with expertise in developing or applying predictive analytics, statistical modeling, data mining, or machine learning algorithms.
- Proficiency in Python and relevant ML libraries such as PyTorch.
- Experience with transformer-based models like GPT or Llama.
Responsibilities
- Research and develop an understanding of state-of-the-art tools, technologies, and methods used in the research community and product groups.
- Advance the research agenda through projects that yield new algorithms, prototypes, theories, tools, methods, or collections of data.
- Drive the team's strategic vision and align it with overall company objectives.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to define project goals, success criteria, and deliverables.
