The Microsoft Research AI Frontiers Lab is seeking Senior and Principal Researchers to advance the field of agentic AI. This role involves developing training methodologies for large language and multimodal models with a focus on reasoning and agentic capabilities. The position is available in Redmond, WA or New York City, NY.

• Doctorate in Computer Science or relevant field, or a Master's Degree with 3+ years of related research experience, or a Bachelor's Degree with 4+ years of related research experience, or equivalent experience.
• Demonstrated research program through public artifacts like models, tools, or publications at top conferences in AI.
• Experience with building and evaluating frontier models.
• Experience publishing academic papers as a lead author or essential contributor in the field of Artificial Intelligence.
• Ability to define an ambitious, original research agenda.

• Lead and conduct cutting-edge research in agentic AI, translating insights into practical solutions for millions of users.
• Curate high-quality datasets and develop novel training algorithms tailored to agentic and reasoning tasks.
• Design rigorous evaluation frameworks to benchmark model capabilities across reasoning, long-horizon tasks, and multi-agent scenarios.
• Prototype and iterate on new agentic capabilities, including computer use and action models.
• Drive research from idea to publication, with opportunities to publish at top-tier venues.
