Job description

The Firmware Engineer role at Microsoft focuses on developing foundational firmware for Azure's custom AI silicon programs. This position is part of the Silicon, Cloud Hardware, and Infrastructure Engineering team, which is essential for powering Microsoft's Intelligent Cloud mission. The engineer will work on both pre-silicon and post-silicon platforms, ensuring high-quality firmware delivery. This role presents an opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge AI workloads and collaborate with various engineering teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field or equivalent experience.
  • Proficient in embedded RUST, RUST RTOS’s, and toolchains.
  • Experience with SoC bring-up, OS primitives, and multi-threading.
  • Experience in working in pre-silicon environments.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, debug, test, and release firmware for Azure’s custom AI silicon programs.
  • Collaborate with silicon, hardware, architecture, and software/firmware teams to deliver secure, production-grade firmware.
  • Participate and drive SoC bring up and troubleshooting.
  • Participate and support silicon’s Data Center deployment and operation.
