Tesla is seeking an intern for the Motor Controls team, where you will model, design, implement, test, and benchmark motor controls for traction motor drives. This internship is ideal for students pursuing a Master's degree in relevant engineering fields, providing hands-on experience in developing motor control algorithms and working on impactful technologies.
Requirements
- Currently pursuing a Master’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field with a graduation date between December 2026 – December 2027
- Strong fundamentals of AC electric motors and drive systems analysis, modeling and control
- Solid background in linear systems analysis, stability, and controller design
- Basic proficiency with embedded firmware development in C/C++
- Model development and data analysis in Matlab/Simulink
- Strong communication and preference for working in teams
Responsibilities
- Develop, test, and validate motor controller functionality and algorithms in the laboratory and in-vehicle
- Help define requirements for motor control software and interfacing hardware components including voltage, current sensors, power stages and speed sensors
- Advance Tesla Motors intellectual property in electric motor design and motor controls
