Job description
As a Staff Functional Safety Engineer at Tesla, you will ensure that products meet high safety standards across various product lines, including vehicles and autonomous systems. This role involves leading functional safety analyses, driving hazard and risk analysis, and mentoring engineers on safety principles.
Requirements
- Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related technical field, or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of experience as a Functional Safety Engineer or in a closely related role
- 10+ years of post-graduate technical experience in safety-critical systems development
- Deep understanding of hardware and software development processes for safety-critical products
- Expert knowledge of ISO 26262 and other relevant functional safety standards
- Experience with functional safety in SOC design and validation
- Proficiency in conducting FMEA and FMEDA analyses
- Strong communication skills
Responsibilities
- Lead functional safety analyses for critical systems across Tesla's product portfolio
- Drive Hazard and Risk Analysis (HARA), Safety Concepts, FMEA, and FMEDA development
- Conduct functional safety analyses at multiple abstraction levels
- Develop and execute comprehensive functional safety validation plans
- Define functional safety interfaces between Tesla and supplier partners
- Build and implement functional safety processes and tools
- Mentor engineers across the organization on functional safety principles
