Job description

As an A/V Engineer at Uber, you will be integral to designing, implementing, and supporting advanced A/V systems for a hybrid workforce. You will work within the Digital Experience team, applying your technical skills to optimize A/V solutions across global offices. This hands-on role requires strong scripting and troubleshooting abilities, as well as collaboration with various stakeholders to ensure high system reliability. Your contributions will enhance engineering excellence through documentation and mentoring.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, A/V Technology, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Proven experience engineering A/V systems in enterprise environments.
  • Proficiency in configuration/scripting tools such as Crestron, Q-SYS, Extron, Zoom APIs, JSON, Python, or JS.
  • Deep understanding of A/V control systems, video conferencing technologies, and audio processing.
  • Experience building and maintaining A/V monitoring and telemetry platforms.
  • Strong documentation skills, including runbooks and SOPs.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Experience leading system troubleshooting during incidents.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement scalable and high-performing A/V solutions in complex environments.
  • Write, test, and maintain configuration scripts and automation for A/V systems.
  • Proactively monitor and improve A/V system reliability by building observability into production systems.
  • Participate in on-call rotations and respond to escalations with strong troubleshooting practices.
  • Lead technical design discussions and develop architecture artifacts.
  • Review peers' configurations/scripts and provide constructive feedback.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to internal documentation.
  • Partner with stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical A/V designs.
  • Identify technical debt and propose solutions to optimize performance.
  • Represent A/V Engineering in internal forums and contribute to cultural efforts.
