Job description

The Marketplace Segmentation team at Uber focuses on optimizing the rides business by differentiating product offerings to meet diverse rider needs. The candidate will collaborate with various teams to define technical solutions and solve complex problems related to real-time matching and dynamic pricing. Additionally, the role includes mentoring junior engineers and contributing to the team's long-term technical vision.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience as a Software Engineer with a proven track record of leading significant projects.
  • Expertise in designing, building, and operating large-scale distributed systems in a production environment.
  • Deep understanding of concurrency, fault tolerance, and performance optimization.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to devise elegant solutions.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Experience mentoring junior engineers and fostering a culture of technical excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the technical design and execution of complex features and medium-sized projects.
  • Drive architectural decisions and system improvements to ensure scalability, reliability, and performance.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Data Science, Operations, and other engineering teams.
  • Solve ambiguous and challenging technical problems related to real-time matching and dynamic pricing.
  • Champion engineering best practices, including testing, monitoring, and operational excellence.
  • Mentor and guide junior and mid-level engineers, providing technical leadership and design feedback.
  • Contribute to the team's long-term technical vision and influence project prioritization.
