As a Senior Staff Engineer at Uber, you will play a pivotal role in architecting the company's Next-Generation Data Intelligence Platform. This position focuses on unifying batch, streaming, and AI compute into a cohesive fabric while transitioning from legacy systems to a modern cloud-native ecosystem. You will lead efforts in storage modernization and operationalizing AI intelligence, ensuring high-performance infrastructure that handles exabytes of data. Your work will set industry standards and contribute to open-source projects, enhancing community collaboration.
Requirements
- 14+ years of experience in designing and operating distributed data and storage systems.
- Extensive storage experience, including batch and object storage management.
- Practical experience with Apache Hudi or Apache Iceberg for lakehouse architectures.
- Experience with distributed transactional storage systems such as Docstore or Google Spanner.
- Deep understanding of compute fabrics like Spark, Flink, or Ray.
- Architect-level knowledge of query engines such as Presto, Trino, or Hive.
- Expert-level command of programming languages like Java, Go, Scala, or C++.
Responsibilities
- Architect the Multi-Modal Fabric to unify batch, streaming, and AI compute.
- Drive the architecture for a unified catalog and metadata management service.
- Partner with teams to bridge human validation with autonomous reasoning.
- Evolve massive-scale persistence layers to increase resiliency.
- Contribute to open-source projects to act as a force multiplier.
