Job description

The Staff Software Engineer will lead the Ad Serving and Attribution Infrastructure team at Uber, focusing on high-performance ad delivery and precise real-time attribution. This role involves architecting the end-to-end lifecycle of ads while ensuring the infrastructure remains reliable and scalable. The engineer will also mentor other engineers and collaborate with product and data science teams to innovate new ad formats. The position requires tackling complex technical challenges and driving operational rigor across the organization.

Requirements

  • Minimum 8 years of experience in backend engineering with mastery of Java, Go, or C++.
  • Proven track record of architecting world-class distributed systems.
  • Deep knowledge of low-latency serving architectures and large-scale data processing.
  • Demonstrated experience leading multi-quarter technical roadmaps across multiple teams.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the Architect for the Ad Serving and Data Infra organization.
  • Define the long-term technical vision and ensure architectural alignment between serving and attribution systems.
  • Mentor and grow Senior and Staff-level engineers, fostering a culture of engineering excellence.
  • Partner with Product and Data Science leadership to design foundational capabilities for new ad formats.
  • Drive operational rigor by identifying systemic risks and implementing frameworks to minimize technical debt.
