Job description
The Sr AI/ML Engineer role at Uber focuses on enhancing the security of the production environment through AI and machine learning solutions. The team is dedicated to building security primitives and user products that empower Uber engineers to secure their services. This position involves designing and implementing AI/ML-based solutions for access management and control at scale. The engineer will collaborate with various teams to deliver production-ready solutions while mentoring junior engineers and shaping the ML strategy within the security domain.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in formulating ML problems from ambiguous business requirements, especially in risk, fraud, or security contexts.
- Proficiency across a broad range of ML algorithms including tree-based models, classical statistical models, and deep learning architectures.
- Hands-on experience with feature engineering, model development, and productionization of ML pipelines.
- Proficiency in PyTorch, TensorFlow, or similar ML frameworks, and in Python or comparable languages for scalable, production-grade systems.
Responsibilities
- Translate business and security needs into well-defined problem statements and solve them with an AI-first mindset.
- Develop, iterate, and productionize ML models that simplify access management and control.
- Integrate ML systems into Uber's critical systems including Identity, Access, and Authorization.
- Collaborate across Security, Risk, and Infra teams to deliver scalable, production-ready solutions.
- Provide leadership by mentoring junior engineers and evangelizing ML best practices.
