Job description
The Engineering Manager II will lead a full stack team of 8-10 engineers focused on enhancing the rider experience for the Reserve booking funnel at Uber. This role involves defining technical strategy, driving engineering excellence, and collaborating with cross-functional partners to address complex business challenges. The manager will also be responsible for fostering a strong engineering culture that emphasizes quality and scalability. Overall, the position is pivotal in driving growth for Reserve trips.
Requirements
- 9+ years of overall experience in software engineering.
- 4+ years of experience managing teams of 10 or more engineers.
- Experience collaborating with product managers and engineering teams to solve problems.
- Proficiency in the full software development lifecycle, including requirements, design, coding/testing, and deployment.
- Strong people management skills, including mentoring engineers and tech leads.
Responsibilities
- Set and refine the engineering vision for the team in collaboration with product management.
- Build, mentor, and manage a high-impact engineering team.
- Manage backend engineers working on complex distributed systems such as Matching and Driver Pricing.
- Collaborate with stakeholders in other teams to enhance the Reserve Product.
- Establish a strong engineering culture focused on quality and architecture.
