Job description

The Grocery and Retail team at Uber is seeking a Software Engineer to help build and maintain backend services that support user-facing products. This role involves collaborating with various stakeholders to develop robust software solutions that enhance the grocery and retail business. The team focuses on creating best-in-class technology to improve the shopping experience for consumers and merchants. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software engineering and a passion for solving complex technical challenges.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or related field with at least 3 years of full-time Software Engineering work experience or PhD in a related field with at least 1 year of experience.
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language such as Java, C++, Python, or Go.
  • 3 years of experience with backend development, building and delivering end-user products.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain robust and scalable software solutions.
  • Collaborate with product managers, cross-engineering teams, data scientists and other partners to gather requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
  • Identify opportunities and lead the entire development lifecycle end-to-end, from architecture design and coding to deployment.
  • Participate in code reviews, provide constructive feedback, and mentor junior engineers.
  • Build and maintain scalable backend services and infrastructure.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest technologies and industry trends.
