Job description

The Sr Engineering Manager for the Shopping ML team at Uber Eats will lead efforts to enhance the shopping experience through machine learning and AI. This role focuses on creating personalized and intuitive experiences for consumers, ensuring the app anticipates their needs. The manager will work closely with product managers, data scientists, and cross-functional teams to develop scalable systems and ML models. This position offers an opportunity to drive innovation in personalization and discovery within the Uber Eats app.

Requirements

  • MS or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field
  • 10+ years of industry experience in software engineering and AI/ML
  • 5+ years of experience directly managing engineering or ML teams
  • Deep understanding of machine learning fundamentals with practical experience
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams

Responsibilities

  • Define and execute the Shopping ML product and engineering roadmap and strategy
  • Collaborate with product managers, data scientists, designers, and operations to identify opportunities
  • Develop scalable systems that help consumers easily discover and order food and groceries
  • Partner with other product and engineering teams to leverage ML frameworks and capabilities
  • Stay on top of industry trends and emerging best practices in machine learning and personalization
