The Director of Engineering for Uber Direct will lead the engineering organization responsible for building logistics systems and experiences that support the Uber Direct product. This role focuses on creating innovative logistics capabilities for restaurants, grocers, and retailers while ensuring high availability and scalability. The director will collaborate with various teams to shape the technical direction and product vision. Additionally, they will build a strong engineering brand and foster a collaborative culture within the team.

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
• A minimum of 10 years proven experience building software across the stack including mobile, platform, data pipelining, and machine learning
• Significant experience working on marketplace problems and distributed systems for large scale products
• Proven experience in designing, building, and managing large-scale real-time systems with high availability
• A minimum of 7 years of management experience leading software engineering teams
• Previous experience leading engineering and cross-functional teams in the logistics domain
• Obsession with the science of logistics and a passion for building global logistics networks

• Build the long term vision and provide technical leadership for the logistics platform
• Strategize and collaborate with Product, Data Science, and Engineering teams to drive technical direction
• Balance the team's portfolio between logistics capabilities and innovative business opportunities
• Build a strong engineering brand for Uber Direct and develop talent within the team
