Job description
The L5B Senior Android Engineer will lead the development of Android experiences for earners within the Fleets & Vehicle organization at Uber. This role focuses on creating intuitive workflows for couriers, mobility drivers, and AV fleet operators, enhancing their operational efficiency. The engineer will set standards for architecture, code quality, and user experience across various fleet earner surfaces. This position requires a strong technical lead who can drive design and influence cross-functional teams.
Requirements
- BS/MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 9+ years of professional software engineering experience, particularly in building and shipping Android applications at scale.
- Expertise in Kotlin and/or Java with a deep understanding of the Android platform, frameworks, and tooling.
- Experience designing and implementing complex mobile architectures with a focus on performance, reliability, and offline support.
- Demonstrated ability to lead technical direction within a product area and influence cross-functional partners.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work closely with product, design, backend, data, operations, and AV partner teams.
Responsibilities
- Own the design and implementation of Android features that support courier, mobility/taxi, and AV fleet earners.
- Build configurable Android flows that can be tailored to different fleet archetypes while sharing common components.
- Implement Android workflows that integrate with Fleet Foundations and Fleet Management Core Modules.
- Surface Fleet Intelligence capabilities in the earner experience to enhance operational efficiency.
- Help build Android experiences for courier fleets, mobility & taxi fleets, and AV fleets.
