Job description

Arcadis is seeking a Lead Drainage Engineer to join their Michigan transportation practice. This role involves working under the direction of the Senior Hydraulic Design Manager on various roadway drainage projects. The team focuses on delivering sustainable design and engineering solutions for natural and built assets. The position offers a flexible work environment, allowing collaboration on local, national, and international projects.

Requirements

  • 7 or more years of drainage design and project management experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering.
  • Professional Engineer certification.
  • Experience working on MDOT projects is a plus.
  • Basic understanding of FEMA floodplain regulations.
  • Knowledge of stormwater design including open channel conveyance and closed drainage systems.
  • Familiarity with stormwater treatment using appropriate BMPs suitable for transportation projects.
  • Proficiency in various software platforms including Bentley’s StormCAD, CulvertMaster, FlowMaster, ICPR, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, HY8, ICPR, SWMM, SMS, SRH2D, and HEC-RAS 2D.
  • Good communication (written and verbal) and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to tackle new projects and challenges regularly.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct engineering design for roadway drainage and design-build projects.
  • Assist in all aspects of roadway drainage design including bridge hydraulic studies and culvert design.
  • Prepare construction plans and project displays.
  • Prepare cost estimates, reports, and technical memos.
  • Utilize various design software to assist with the design and preparation of construction plans.
  • Coordinate with project managers, ecologists, and roadway engineers.
  • Direct junior engineers' design activities.
