Job description

Arcadis is seeking a Structural Engineer to join their Climate Adaptation and Water Management Team in Virginia Beach or Richmond, Virginia. The role focuses on delivering engineering and consulting services for projects related to flood risk reduction and infrastructure resilience. The engineer will conduct structural analysis and design while collaborating with various engineering disciplines. This position also involves mentoring junior staff and managing project budgets and schedules.

Requirements

  • 8 years of relevant experience in structural engineering.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related discipline.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) registration.
  • Experience in designing flood walls, flood gates, retaining wall structures, and deep foundations is preferred.
  • A Master’s degree in Structural Engineering is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct structural analysis, design, and engineering during construction services for climate adaptation projects.
  • Research feasibility of alternative design approaches and site conditions.
  • Develop calculations, plans, specifications, and other contract documents.
  • Manage project budgets and schedules as Design Lead, Task Manager, or Project Engineer.
  • Mentor entry-level and junior structural engineering staff.
