Job description

Arcadis is seeking a Construction Change Order Engineer to join the NYCDEP Construction Management Team in Yonkers, New York. This full-time role focuses on utilizing NYCDEP's change order experience to develop accurate cost estimates and facilitate negotiations. The engineer will work closely with contractors to evaluate proposals and prepare documentation for change orders. This position is crucial for ensuring project financial integrity and compliance with industry standards.

Requirements

  • 5 years of experience with the NYCDEP Bureau of Engineering Design and Construction capital project change order process.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Finance, or Business Analytics.
  • Proficiency with Sage (Timberline), Bluebeam estimating software, and MS Office Suite.
  • Expertise in estimating for general trades, heavy civil, mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation and controls.
  • Ability to understand complex Civil and MEP and water treatment process projects.

Responsibilities

  • Develop independent, complete, and accurate cost estimates for change orders.
  • Perform quantity take-offs and lead the negotiation of design and field change orders.
  • Draft Authorized Cost Breakdown Summaries and Negotiation Letters.
  • Review and evaluate cost proposals provided by contractors.
  • Facilitate cost negotiations with contractors and prepare independent estimates of probable costs.
  • Review contractor time and material records for inclusion in change orders.
  • Support the quantification of financial damages associated with claims for delay and cost overruns.
