Job description

The Power, Standards, and Hardware Development Manager will serve as a technical authority for power systems and hardware engineering within Amazon's global fulfillment center network. This role focuses on leading the standardization and innovation of power distribution and hardware solutions for material handling operations. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in power system design and hardware development, working closely with various teams to deliver robust solutions. The position emphasizes safety, scalability, and operational excellence in transforming Amazon's material handling capabilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Power Engineering, or a related field
  • 10+ years of experience in power systems design, electrical engineering, and/or hardware development
  • 5+ years in a management or leadership role, including people leadership
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in Electrical Engineering
  • Strong proficiency in electrical load calculations and preparation of A/E drawing sets using tools such as AutoCAD or Revit
  • Experience with NFPA 70E and advanced arc flash mitigation strategies
  • Knowledge of IEEE standards such as IEEE 519 and IEEE 1584
  • Able to travel up to 30%, US and International

Responsibilities

  • Design, engineer, and optimize 3-phase power systems and power distribution for material handling applications
  • Perform detailed electrical load calculations and arc flash studies in accordance with industry standards
  • Lead the hardware design and development of electrical and electromechanical systems
  • Analyze utilities data to identify trends and optimize power consumption across fulfillment centers
  • Prepare and maintain technical specifications for the OneMHS program
  • Ensure all designs comply with the National Electrical Code and other applicable standards
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of electrical engineers and technicians
  • Execute power and hardware projects through all phases from initiation through commissioning
