Job description

The Display Driver team at Apple is seeking a Software Automation engineer to enhance software quality and integration. This role involves maintaining lab infrastructure for test automation and developing automated test suites. The engineer will collaborate with the development team to create automation test plans and ensure the reliability of the CI pipeline. A strong focus will be on leveraging AI-assisted tools to improve productivity in test development and reporting.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Engineering or Computer Science.
  • 2-3 years of experience as a software engineer or 4-5 years as a software/hardware test engineer.
  • Experience with LLM-based development tools such as Claude Code or Copilot.
  • Proficiency in Git, code review, and collaborative development workflows.
  • Strong shell scripting and command-line skills in macOS or Linux.
  • Familiarity with device management tooling and networking fundamentals.

Responsibilities

  • Own and maintain the lab infrastructure that supports test automation.
  • Write new automated tests for Display Software and Firmware.
  • Develop an automation test plan in cooperation with development engineering.
  • Build and run automated test suites while triaging failures.
  • Expand automation test suites based on knowledge of product issues.
  • Contribute to the team's internal tooling and leverage generative AI tools.
