Ring is looking for a Software Development Engineer to join the Gateways and Permissions Framework team, focusing on building backend services for device management. This role involves collaborating with various teams across software, firmware, and product organizations while utilizing AWS technologies. The team faces challenges related to availability, latency, and resilience, processing millions of requests daily. The engineer will contribute to the development of smart home infrastructure that enhances security and connectivity for families.
Requirements
- 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 5+ years of programming experience with at least one software programming language
- 5+ years of experience leading design or architecture of new and existing systems
- Experience as a mentor, tech lead, or leading an engineering team
- 5+ years of experience in the full software development life cycle, including coding standards and testing
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
Responsibilities
- Design and implement ultra-high-throughput backend services supporting millions of Ring devices
- Build extensible APIs and data models for Ring's mobile applications and internal services
- Drive technical excellence and establish engineering best practices
- Architect fault-tolerant distributed systems using AWS services
- Partner with cross-functional teams to translate complex business requirements into technical solutions
- Lead operational excellence initiatives including monitoring and automated testing
- Contribute to technical decision-making that influences Ring's device platform architecture
