Job description
As an IT Support Engineer I at Amazon, you will play a crucial role in providing high-quality support for computer hardware, operating systems, and enterprise application software. You will be part of the OpsTech IT team, which is essential for maintaining the efficiency of Amazon Operations. The position requires self-motivated individuals who can troubleshoot and solve problems while managing local technical projects. You will also interact with management and staff to enhance IT solutions and ensure the availability of infrastructure systems.
Requirements
- High school or equivalent diploma
- 2+ years of professional experience in a relevant field
- 2+ years of troubleshooting experience in a multi-user high availability environment
- 2+ years of networking experience including DNS, DHCP, SSL, OSI Model, and TCP/IP
- 2+ years of PC repair, troubleshooting, deployment, and liquidation experience
- 1+ years of IT client, server, and network service delivery experience
- Fluency in Cisco/networking and either Linux and/or Microsoft
- Possession of a current, valid Driver License
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related technical field is preferred
- Certification in an applicable field like A+, Net+, Sec+, CCNA, LPIC, Linux+, or AWS certification is preferred
- Experience communicating technical concepts to a non-technical audience
- Experience managing multiple projects and prioritizing tasks
- Experience in oral and written communication
- Experience working independently with minimal supervision or 1+ years of Amazon experience
- Data center infrastructure and facilities experience is preferred
Responsibilities
- Perform network engineering and troubleshooting, data cabling, and systems administration in various software and hardware environments.
- Ensure infrastructure networking and computing systems remain available during production hours.
- Interact with management and staff to provide analytical and technical assistance for continuous improvement of IT solutions.
- Manage local technical projects effectively.
- Maintain or create policies, procedures, and processes.
- Identify root causes of operational issues and process inefficiencies.
- Move up to 49lbs and stand or walk during shifts lasting up to 12 hours.
- Travel up to 25% of the time as required.
