Job description

Amazon Security is looking for an experienced Security Engineer II to join the Vulnerability Management and Remediation Operations team in Seattle, Washington. This role focuses on discovering, assessing, and remediating vulnerabilities within the Amazon ecosystem. The engineer will work closely with builder teams to address security issues and enhance operational capabilities through automation and tooling. The position requires a strong understanding of security vulnerabilities and the ability to analyze their impact on Amazon's infrastructure and applications.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of programming experience in Python, Ruby, Go, Swift, Java, .Net, C++, or similar object-oriented languages.
  • 2+ years of scripting, programming, and security code review experience in a common programming language.
  • 2+ years of experience troubleshooting systems issues, analyzing logs, or automating tasks using command line tools.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or a STEM field, or equivalent experience in IT Security.
  • Knowledge of networking protocols such as HTTP, DNS, and TCP/IP.
  • Experience with AWS products and services.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze public and private vulnerability disclosures and exploit code.
  • Assess the technical details and potential impact of vulnerabilities across Amazon's infrastructure.
  • Investigate and triage vulnerabilities, identifying severity and potential impact.
  • Support response and remediation efforts to fix security issues in a timely manner.
  • Engineer high quality, scalable, and accurate vulnerability detection mechanisms.
  • Design and implement automation, tools, and workflows to enhance operational capabilities.
  • Participate in periodic on-call responsibilities for continuous monitoring and remediation of vulnerabilities.
