The Data Center Chief Engineer (CE) at Amazon is responsible for ensuring the peak efficiency of electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment within the data center. This role involves managing maintenance, troubleshooting, and emergency response while supporting the Data Center Facility Manager. The CE will also oversee small-to-medium impact projects, driving innovation and operational cost reduction. Joining the AWS Infrastructure Services team means collaborating with diverse professionals to maintain critical infrastructure that supports Amazon Web Services.

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
• 5+ years of project management experience in data centers or comparable critical infrastructure
• Experience with power management and power monitoring systems
• Knowledge of critical data center equipment and engineering documentation
• Familiarity with building codes and regulations including Life Safety, BOCA, NFPA, NEC, or OSHA

• Oversee the day-to-day operations and maintenance of mechanical and electrical equipment in a data center
• Act as an escalation point for all facilities-related issues within the data center
• Perform root cause analysis of equipment failures
• Troubleshoot and report facility and data server-level events within internal SLA
• Create and deploy new standard practices for Engineering Operations Technicians and vendor support teams
• Provide training and guidance to Engineering Operations Technicians
• Ensure all safety and security procedures are adhered to by vendor and Amazon staff
• Utilize internal CMMS to manage building workflows
• Communicate complex technical information to a non-technical audience
