Last Mile Engineering is seeking a Designer to lead the design of next-generation fulfillment center building designs and material handling initiatives. This role involves collaborating with internal and external teams to create high-quality, cost-effective solutions for delivery stations. The team focuses on automation technologies and aims to enhance Amazon's last mile network. The position requires a high level of ownership in solving complex problems and managing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or 2+ years of Amazon RME experience
- 5+ years of experience managing multiple large projects
- 5+ years of experience with Microsoft Office products and applications
- Experience and strong technical background in automated or non-automated material handling equipment
- Master's degree in engineering, mechanical, operations, supply chain, business administration, or equivalent STEM field
- Experience in Lean Management, Six Sigma, and other operations engineering tools
Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate design efforts to develop optimal processes and material handling design solutions.
- Collaborate with internal teams, external vendors, and stakeholders to generate high-quality, cost-effective solutions.
- Simultaneously manage multiple projects and tasks while effectively influencing and communicating with partners.
- Provide technical leadership for large-scale engineering projects, retrofits, and building designs.
- Conduct detailed design reviews with vendors to develop complex storage and processing solutions.
- Visit vendor facilities to conduct proof-of-concept and Factor Acceptance Tests of designed equipment.
- Visit Amazon fulfillment centers to conduct tests on equipment and drive continuous improvement.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders and leaders through business reviews and white papers.
