Job description
The role involves working as a Firmware Engineer within the AWS Hardware Engineering team, focusing on designing and developing firmware for SSDs and other non-volatile memory devices. The team is dedicated to creating innovative hardware solutions that enhance AWS's cloud computing capabilities. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in SSD firmware development and will collaborate with various engineering teams to optimize device performance. Requirements
- 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 5+ years of programming experience with at least one software programming language
- 5+ years of experience leading design or architecture of new and existing systems
- Experience as a mentor or tech lead in an engineering team
- Experience in embedded development in C/C++
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
- Deep understanding of SSD hardware architecture and concepts such as wear-leveling and garbage collection
- 10+ years of hands-on experience developing firmware for SSD and related storage devices
- High-level understanding of storage technologies and associated block interface protocols
Responsibilities
- Design AWS-specific hardware, firmware, and software for non-volatile memory devices.
- Contribute to firmware development from conception through validation and into production.
- Support device characterization and benchmarking efforts.
- Collaborate with AWS software engineers to tailor devices for the AWS environment.
- Lead firmware development efforts on custom solid-state devices.
