Job description

As a Senior Robotics Mechatronics Engineer at Amazon Robotics, you will lead the design and development of next-generation robotic systems. This role involves integrating mechanical, electrical, and software engineering to create intelligent systems that operate at scale across fulfillment sites. You will guide a cross-functional team of engineers through the full design lifecycle, from concept to deployment. The position emphasizes innovation and collaboration to push the boundaries of autonomous machines.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or above in robotics, mechanical/mechatronics engineering, systems engineering or related field
  • Experience in developing functional specifications, design verification plans and functional test procedures
  • SolidWorks or similar CAD experience, understanding of best practices for part design, advanced assemblies and complex configuration management
  • Hands-on experience crafting proof-of-concept models and prototypes
  • Experience mentoring and developing junior engineers
  • Thorough understanding of technical principles, theories and concepts in hardware development
  • Extensive system design experience interfacing with a wide array of electro-mechanical subsystems
  • Strong organizational and planning skills
  • Desire to work in a fast-paced environment and customer focused
  • Ability to effectively communicate concepts and write technical documents

Responsibilities

  • Guide an interdisciplinary team to execute product designs from concept to production including specification, design, prototyping, validation and testing
  • Design and integrate holistic electromechanical hardware solutions for complex, ambiguous problems with evolving requirements
  • Create detailed design specifications, 3D models and schematics for mechatronic and robotic systems
  • Develop and debug embedded systems, sensors and automation controllers to ensure reliable system performance
  • Conduct simulation, evaluation, testing and validation of robotic and electromechanical systems against performance and safety standards
  • Perform root cause analysis on system failures and implement corrective actions to improve reliability and uptime
  • Collaborate with Operations, Manufacturing, Supply Chain and Quality organizations to ensure smooth product launch and sustaining
  • Manage vendor relationships, component procurement and supply chain integration to support production timelines
  • Write functional specifications, design verification plans and test procedures to ensure engineering rigor
  • Drive continuous improvement and design for manufacturability across high volume production environments
