Job description

The Emulation Engineer will be part of the Cloud-Scale Machine Learning Acceleration team, focusing on the design and optimization of hardware for data centers. This role involves building the next generation of cloud server infrastructure using an emulation platform. The engineer will work closely with various teams to define and develop methodologies for system validation flows. The position requires a strong understanding of emulation models to ensure they are functionally correct and performant.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience creating and maintaining automation frameworks for Post-Silicon Flow.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience in C/C++ and System Verilog coding.
  • Experience building test automation frameworks and tools.
  • Experience in developing functional specifications, design verification plans, and functional test procedures.
  • Experience automating system flows using bash, python, or tcl.
  • Master's degree or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience in RTL coding and debug, as well as performance, power, area analysis and trade-offs.
  • Experience with modern ASIC/FPGA design and verification tools.
  • Experience with SoC bring-up and post-silicon validation.

Responsibilities

  • Design emulation capabilities in System Verilog, C, C++, Python, and Shell scripts for system validation flows.
  • Develop scalable compile flows targeting project requirements.
  • Utilize end-to-end emulation compilation flows involving front-end and back-end synthesis.
  • Use emulation tool chains from Zebu, Cadence, or Veloce.
  • Develop bus functional prototype models using DPI programming in System Verilog, C, or C++.
  • Create System Verilog modules for integration with standard extors.
  • Develop a runtime framework in C++ to execute compiled emulation models.
  • Optimize build and run times of emulation models.
  • Automate system flow execution in emulation using bash, python, or tcl.
  • Collaborate with SoC teams to learn about system flows and execute them on the emulation framework.
  • Debug RTL failures associated with chip functionality.
  • Utilize various emulation debug technologies.
  • Use gdb and other techniques to debug software failures.
  • Work with vendors to ensure the emulation tool chain is up to date with the latest technologies.

Benefits

  • Employees at Amazon are often offered comprehensive health benefits—including multiple medical plan options (no pre-existing condition exclusions, 100% covered in-network preventive care), dental and vision plans, a 24/7 medical advice line from day one, expert second-opinion services, and broad mental-health support with several free counseling sessions (including pediatric). Financial wellness typically includes a 401(k) with company match (up to 2%), Restricted Stock Units (equity), FSAs, an emergency savings program, product and partner discounts, and even college-savings and home-purchase programs. Overall, the package is designed to support employees and their families’ health, finances, and day-to-day life.
