Job description

The System Development Engineer role at Automation Integration Technologies (AIT) focuses on innovating Human Machine Interfacing Platforms within Amazon's Fulfillment Technologies Robotics organization. This position involves collaborating with a dynamic team to enhance automated material handling systems and robotics. The engineer will leverage their expertise in industrial automation and control systems to develop a mission-critical equipment visualization platform. The role emphasizes problem-solving, creativity, and the integration of various technologies to optimize performance and reliability.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • Experience in automating, deploying, and supporting large-scale infrastructure
  • Experience designing or architecting new and existing systems
  • Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Python, Ruby, Golang, Java, C++, C#, or Rust
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines build processes
  • Experience with distributed systems at scale
  • Experience building services using AWS products
  • Knowledge of a front-end language such as Javascript, CSS, or HTML
  • Experience with Linux/Unix
  • Experience with industrial control systems, both hardware and software

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the team to ensure the platform integrates with industrial equipment and control systems.
  • Contribute to the overall system architecture and design.
  • Assist in defining data flow, communication protocols, and interface specifications.
  • Identify and address technical challenges related to industrial automation technologies.
  • Participate in the development of critical system components for the platform.
  • Identify opportunities to optimize the platform's performance and scalability.
  • Contribute to the definition and implementation of comprehensive testing strategies.
  • Analyze test results and provide technical expertise to resolve complex issues.
  • Ensure the platform meets performance, reliability, and security standards.
