Job description

The Network Development Engineer role within the AWS GCNA organization focuses on designing, operating, and implementing large-scale networks that ensure connectivity between Amazon's data centers and external networks. The EDGE team collaborates with various engineering teams to optimize network performance and deploy innovative solutions. This position requires a strong background in network and systems support, as well as experience with automation and scaling technologies. The role emphasizes maintaining high standards for network stability and sustainability while fostering an inclusive team culture.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience with major internet routing protocols.
  • 4+ years of experience working in a Linux/Unix environment.
  • 4+ years of experience with automation scripting using Python, Bash, Shell, and/or Perl.
  • Bachelor's degree or above in computer science or equivalent.
  • Experience with IP networking fundamentals and TCP/IP, UDP, DNS, and DHCP.
  • 5+ years of experience working with major network operating systems such as Cisco IOS and/or Junos.

Responsibilities

  • Perform high quality network and/or systems operations and deployments.
  • Create and implement changes on the network according to change management standards.
  • Lead network projects in areas such as network deployment, scaling, and optimization.
  • Maintain Amazon Web Services’ next generation networks by providing critical network support.
  • Operate and troubleshoot network routing, interconnectivity, and performance issues.
  • Drive and support innovation across the network infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with the broader Network/Infrastructure organization on engineering standards.
  • Work closely with engineering teams to ensure smooth roll-out of new designs and products.
  • Maintain compliance with networking toolset standards and policies.
  • Create and review documentation regarding network implementations and processes.
